FAQ & Pricing

What's your approach to wedding ceremonies?

This is an important question, and I encourage you to read the About Me page for a detailed answer!

How much do you charge?

How do we contact you?

You can fill out this form, or you can send me an email at frannycivitanoweddings@gmail.com

How do we get a marriage license?

Currently, the NYC City Clerk’s Office is issuing all wedding licenses online through Project Cupid. They have been quite busy, so I recommend reserving an appointment as soon as possible if you plan to get married in the next 60 days. If you can’t seem to find an appointment, check the City Clerk’s site on Thursdays at 9 AM. Here's a blog I wrote on how to go through this process in NYC. Please note: marriage licenses must be obtained no earlier than 60 days prior to the ceremony (down to the exact time!), and no later than 24 hours.

Where are you located and are you willing to travel?

I live in Brooklyn, NY. Most weddings I officiate are either within the five boroughs (or in New York state if the ceremony is virtual). Let's communicate about your plans by phone or email. My in-person availability due to Covid is limited. (See below for Covid policies.)

What is your deposit refund policy?

I require a 50% deposit upon contract execution to save the date. Deposits are non-refundable. Once you book a wedding with me, I am very flexible about rescheduling because of Covid restrictions or safety concerns. For those who made deposits, those deposits (in most cases) can be applied to a new date farther out if there’s a need to reschedule, subject to my availability. If you cancel your wedding or change significant details that are outside the scope of our agreement, then your deposit will not be returned. Please ask if you have specific questions!

How long are your wedding ceremonies?

Typically my custom ceremonies are within the 10-15 minute range, but that can vary depending on if you would like to include readings, passages, or have other requests. Simple ceremonies are approximately 5 minutes in length.

We're not sure how we'd like to handle our vows. Can you help us figure that out?

Absolutely! This is the question I get most frequently. There are many different ways to approach vows. Maybe you don't want the pressure of speaking in front of a crowd and would prefer to repeat vows back, or would simply like to say, "I do." Maybe you want to create something personal but aren't sure how you feel about a typical monologue. I've seen vows of all shapes and sizes, and I know we can find the best option for you. Check out the blog post I wrote about vows for more ideas.

How can do we determine if we're a good fit with you as our officiant?

When you reach out to me, I'll get back to you as quickly as possible. If I'm not able to respond thoughtfully immediately, I will respond to let you know when you can expect a more detailed response. The best way to find out if we have chemistry is to have a conversation, whether that's by email, phone, or in-person, we both need to feel good about our decision to work together.

Will you attend our rehearsal?

It's my opinion that I'm not needed during the wedding rehearsal, as we will have communicated in detail about the details of the day. However, I’m more than happy to attend a rehearsal. There is an additional $150 fee for up to a half hour of time.

Do you count as a witness?

In New York City, one witness over the age of 18 is required, not including the wedding officiant. If you need assistance getting a witness, I can provide one for an additional fee.

After we agree to work together, what happens next?

My main goal is to provide you with a memorable and beautiful ceremony that represents you, and that this part of the process is stress-free. After signing the Wedding Agreement, I will send you and your partner a questionnaire that will help me get to know you better and allow me to use personal details to craft your ceremony.  We can meet in person (usually at a coffee shop), or set up a phone or video conference to discuss details. I will develop a timeline with deadlines to make sure there is ample time for you to review the ceremony draft and make revisions. My goal is to get you a draft ceremony one month prior to your wedding day. I am available via email (and very quick to respond!) throughout the process.

How do you approach the pandemic?

While I’m grateful we’re able to celebrate weddings in a way that (mostly) resembles the before-times, I take health and safety seriously. At all times, I will follow guidance from local, state, and federal agencies and sometimes more strict measures. I’m fully vaccinated. In all cases, please let me know if you have questions! I am always happy to discuss details.

wHAT WILL YOU WEAR?

I have many options - see below for some of them and let me know what you think!
