Ghostwriting

I love writing wedding ceremonies.

You know you want your best friend or your dad or your aunt to perform your ceremony because you can’t imagine anyone else standing up there with you. But is your best friend, dad, aunt unsure of how to proceed in actually performing that ceremony? I can help. I not only write ceremonies for me to perform, but I can also ghostwrite for your loved one to perform. See below for some options, depending on your needs. Send me a note if you’re interested in discussing any of these options!

For any of these options, if your officiant is performing a wedding ceremony for you in New York State, please visit the City Clerk’s site for more information to make sure the marriage ceremony is legal!

OPTION ONE: Full ceremony drafting ($350)

Looking for a no-stress option for your officiant? I can write the entire ceremony for them which they can either use completely as-is, or they can use as much as they want and make personal edits as they see fit.

  • I meet with the couple and the officiant to talk about how you all know each other, how the couple met, and what is important to you in the ceremony. I also get a sense of the officiant’s voice and speaking style.

  • The couple fills out a questionnaire that tells me more about them, who they are as individuals, and how they work in a partnership.

  • I send a draft to the officiant first, then to the couple; all are able to edit the ceremony directly.

  • I can offer guidance on readings, vows, and other aspects of ceremony flow.

OPTION TWO: Semi-drafted script for your editing ($215)

Do you or your officiant want to take the lead on drafting language, but not sure how to do that? I can send you a semi-drafted version of my custom ceremony version that includes specific guidance on where and how I recommend you add personal details.

  • I send you an editable, pre-written ~10-minute ceremony draft with options to fill-in-the blanks for personal information.

  • We can meet for one, 45-minute one-on-one video session to discuss the ceremony and any specific questions you have so you can make further edits, as needed.

OPTION THREE: One-time consultation ($150)

Do you have a general sense of what you want, but you want to talk it out and ask questions? I offer a 60-minute consultation option where we can discuss a ceremony you wrote, process questions related to officiating or ceremony flow, or do a ceremony rehearsal where you read-through the ceremony and I provide feedback on content and/or style.
